Ceres and the Goddess Dress

July 24, 2010

You’ve all seen this dress.  On a hot Charleston day- my last before my return to Chicago- I slipped it on and wandered the weathered streets of one of my favorite places in the US, feeling just as gorgeous as I did the last time I wore it.  More than almost any piece of clothing I own, this dress makes me feel like a goddess- tall, curvy, powerful, richly dressed.  I paid $3 for this dress and yet I feel so chic and classy in it.  I love its combination of colors, its boho feel, its silky material and how it drapes around me.   I’ll probably start calling myself Ceres soon…(for those who aren’t nerds of Roman mythology, she was the goddess of the earth and growth, which I think is totally appropriate given the print of the dress and my curvy, natural self).

What’s your “goddess” piece?  Any dress that makes you feel as wonderful as this one does for me?  And which goddess would you be if you were one?

PS: Sean and I did this little photo shoot together.  I think his is one of the best I’ve ever taken of him.  Isn’t he a hottie?  :)

Ceres: dress ($3, my secret Charleston thrift store), sandals (Target, $12), bracelet (H&M, $3).

You look like you’re wrapped in a watercolor painting – gorgeous!

My “goddess” piece is this dress: http://interrobangsanon.wordpress.com/2010/05/10/katie-daily-style-my-neck-ears-and-feet/

Quite Grecian looking, but I love how I feel in it, how it flows, and how it’s the only maxi dress I’ve ever owned where the fabric doesn’t catch on my hairy legs if I’ve decided not to shave (which is one of the major selling points of maxis in the first place).

Well, you know how far behind on commenting I am, so I assume you’ll excuse my delinquency in telling you how UNBEARABLY RAD this dress is. And how smokin’ both you and Sean look…
