The Steel Gardens of Chicago
I’ve often thought of Chicago as a sort of garden of steel, with the giant buildings like flowers and the river like a little stream that waters it all. Walking along to Buckingham Fountain with my parents and sister I ran into an ACTUAL steel garden! I’d somehow never seen it before and my sister and I were both totally taken with it. Thus, these photos.
These pictures are from last Friday, when I spent a wonderful day downtown with my family. We saw and did so many things that I really love about Chicago- the Bean, the Art Institute, the river, yummy Jewish diner food. This dress was the perfect piece to wear to do all those things on such a hot day. It’s fast becoming one of my favorite dresses, which is saying a lot, given how many of them I own. :)
Also awesome was the lady below in the black and white get-up. I hope when I’m older I’m as cool dressin’ as she is!

The Steel Gardens of Chicago: maxi dress (Target, $16), tank (thrifted, $2), yellow braided sandals (Target, $12,), bracelets (Namibia), earrings (gift from Sean).

Dude, I’ve never seen that before either! I’m totally smitten with it and must go to it soon. And I ADORE that maxi dress on you! I kind of love how you, and your mom, and awesome crazy old lady were all rocking the B&W look.
That maxi dress is gorgeous on you! I’m enamored with that lady’s hat, too!
SUCH a fantastic dress on you! What a beautiful print. Love all the family/steel garden photos!
That is such a perfect dress! I love the pattern so much!
And that lady is seriously rocking some style. I’m so glad she let you share it with us!
Aaaand … giant steel flowers = awesome. That’s all.
Omg! The lady is even wearing crocs and she looks good! I love your b&w ensemble with the gold-yellow touches of the shoes and lace inset.
