Little Emily Cupcake: Saturday, April 17

April 22, 2010

My friend Sean is visiting this week, which means that we spent some time downtown on Saturday.  We hung out at The Art Institute (one of my favorite Chicago locations), had figs and cheese in the gardens next to Pritzker Paillion, hit up H&M for clothes for Sean and Anthropologie (yes, Sean loves Anthro…how awesome is that?!), and restaurant hopped for dinner.  It was a great day- Sean got some great new shirts (which he very much needed), we ate well, we had great convesation, and we saw beautiful things.  What could be better?

It was too cold to get out of the sun for photos, hence the dappled quality of my outfit shots.  I ran all over Chicago in this get-up and I have to say, I totally loved it.  It was comfortable and relatively warm and I felt super-cute.  It’s almost like a cupcake- pink icing on top of spongy chocolate and with some srpinkles there in the middle!  I bought the dress  on a whim for some ridiculously small amount of money and I’m so glad that I did.  It has been a really versatile piece, good for summer and winter, can be worn with shirts underneath or not.  Thank goodness for those last minute purchases!  Also, this belt is my new favorite accessory.  Combined with my little Dooney and Bourke bag (invisible in these photos) I feel just awesome.  Isn’t it great how clothes can do that for you?!

I’m a bit behind on my outfit posts (as in I have three of four days worth left to post and they’re all from last week), so please bear with me.  They’re coming, I promise!  Blame it on papers…and Canada!  Oh, yes, and there’s a Toronto post coming, too.  Eventually, eventually…

Ha ha! Little Emily cupcake–I love it!

On another note, “bowels” and “fig” should never be used in the same sentence. I’m just sayin’.

This is so great! I love the boots, the figs, the pink, the big awesome book, and the touch-and-go chess. Now to convince Joe to accompany me to Anthro this weekend (as a birthday treat, perhaps?)… :)
